Byron Vannoy has become one of the first call drummers in Seattle’s Jazz
and creative music scenes. His versatility and his innate ability to
blend his sound with the other's has helped him form many lasting
professional relationships. Byron has performed and recorded with Julian
Priester, Herbie Hancock, Randy Brecker, Ron Carter Jovino Santos-Neto,
Tom Scott, Ray Vega, Wayne Horvitz, Tom Varner, Ernestine Anderson,
Ishmael Wadada Leo Smith and Hadley Caliman. Recently emerging as a
bandleader and composer, Byron’s debut recording “Meridian” received
national recognition as well as the 2008 Golden Ear Award for “NW Jazz
Recording of the Year”. Byron holds an Associate Certificate in
Professional Music from Berklee College of Music, a Bachelor of Music
degree in Jazz Performance form Cornish College of the Arts and a Master
of Fine Arts degree in African American Music Performance from
California Institute of the Arts. |
